Water supplies have been restored in Bundoran and surrounding areas after two major bursts on a trunk main, with Uisce Éireann thanking residents and businesses for their patience as crews worked through the night.
Specialist teams carried out emergency repairs into the early hours to return water to homes and workplaces as quickly as possible. The utility said a second burst occurred late yesterday, with supplies back at around 3am following extensive overnight work.
Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said: "First and foremost, I want to thank the community for their patience during the disruption this unexpected outage caused to our customers.
"We know how much people rely on a dependable water supply every day, and we understand how frustrating and challenging it can be when that supply is interrupted unexpectedly.
"Unfortunately, while we were carrying out repairs we were hit by a second burst on the line. Our crews worked into the early hours of this morning to repair what were two significant bursts on a critical section of the network. Thanks to their efforts, water supplies were restored at approximately 3am.
"The support shown to our crews by local residents and business people on the ground was greatly appreciated and helped us focus on restoring supplies as quickly and safely as possible."
