On Saturday 29 August 2026, Drop Table and the SDCC Arts Office hosted 'Another Infrastructure (AI): art, environment, data centres & us' at North Clondalkin Library.
The packed schedule of talks, workshops, artworks and food was fully booked, with the closing panel on community-led infrastructures opened by South Dublin Mayor Francis Timmons.
The artist ensemble is developing work around alternative forms of infrastructure, including small-scale data servers, care infrastructures, distributed money systems, games about LGBTQIA+ experience, and local food systems. The event invited people interested in these complex environmental and social topics to come together for discussion and making. Led by Shane Finan, Drop Table includes Alisha Doody, Dasha Ilina, Living Rhythms (Heather Griffin and Patrick Mulvihill), Paul O’Neill, Amy Bunce, and Cían Flynn.
Working collectively in South Dublin under the Council's IN CONTEXT Public Art programme, the seven artists are based across Ireland and using North Clondalkin Library as a hub for 'Another Infrastructure (AI)'. While collaborating towards a shared outcome, each artist is progressing a distinct project focused on a single aspect of infrastructure. In the coming weeks, the artists will run further activities, including workshops with the Women's Collective Ronanstown, a series with teenagers at Ronanstown Youth Service, and a continuing game-making programme for the LGBT+ community at North Clondalkin Library.
Project lead Shane Finan said: "We were thrilled with the attendance and the deep interest from people in the community and those who travelled. It was amazing to see how knowledgeable people are, and how willing they are to engage in calm and open debate. We look forward to the next events."
