MMD Marks World Suicide Prevention Day With Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

Ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day, MMD Construction welcomed Lee and Rob from the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity to its Head Office on Tuesday.

The Lighthouse Charity provides essential emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families, and works across the sector to raise awareness of mental health and the assistance available to anyone who needs it.

Following visits to several MMD sites over the summer, this session continued that engagement by bringing the conversation to the Head Office team.

During the visit, Rob generously shared his personal story with the team, speaking openly about his own experiences. Together, Rob and Lee explained the different ways the Lighthouse Charity can provide support to individuals and their families.

Their visit underscored that health, safety and wellbeing extend beyond physical risks. Building an environment where people feel able to speak openly, check in with each other and ask for help when they need it is something everyone contributes to.

World Suicide Prevention Day is an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge stigma and encourage conversations about suicide prevention and mental health. For MMD, it is also a chance to remind employees that support is available and that no one should feel they have to deal with difficult circumstances alone.

MMD sincerely thanks Lee and Rob for visiting the Head Office, for sharing their experiences so openly and for the invaluable work the Lighthouse continues to do in supporting people and families throughout the construction industry.
