McMenamin Engineering has had four projects shortlisted for the 2026 Irish Steel Awards, reflecting the company's breadth of work across housing, industrial, public sector and healthcare schemes.
Modular Balconies, Cherry Lane, Ashbourne: Working for Aspect Homes, the team designed, manufactured and installed 28 rectangular balconies and three L‑shaped corner balconies for an apartment development in Co. Meath. Off‑site modular fabrication delivered greater precision, consistency and a smoother on‑site installation process.
Údarás na Gaeltachta, Ballyconnell Industrial Estate: This three‑phase project in Falcarragh, Co. Donegal, extended and refurbished a two‑storey factory. The works comprised a new structural bay to the rear, a full roof refurbishment, and a complex side extension featuring a cranked and curved form, giving the established building a new lease of life.
Waterways Ireland, Tullamore: The new facility will bring together up to 70 Waterways Ireland staff from Operations, Mechanical & Electrical, and Finance under one roof to create a central hub for the nation’s inland waterways. McMenamin Engineering supplied and erected all structural steel and cladding for the development.
Community Nursing Unit, Carrick‑on‑Shannon: For this €38 million, 90‑bed HSE facility, the company provided structural steelwork, cold‑rolled purlins and a bespoke staircase. A key challenge was a complex multi‑pitched roof spanning three axes, addressed through advanced 3D detailing, precise setting‑out coordination and close collaboration with the main contractor, architect and engineer.
Although no award was secured this year, the company was pleased to be represented among strong finalists. The shortlist recognition reflects the efforts of its design, detailing, fabrication and erection teams, alongside the contributions of clients, architects, engineers and contractors. McMenamin Engineering congratulated all winners and finalists and thanked the Irish Steel Awards for highlighting quality across the industry.
