Con-Form Contracting Ltd, the ground engineering specialist, was recently appointed to carry out its innovative, patent applied E-Found foundation solution at a site in Dundalk, Co Louth on behalf of Mount Avenue Developments.

The site consists of a range of 3,4 & 5 bedroom timber frame dwellings and Con-Form was approached by the client’s engineers, O’Connor Sutton Cronin who had worked with Con-Form previously and were knowledgeable about the advantages that E-Found could provide their client.

Of the traditional options available, piling was considered to be the most viable, however that would require the import of piling mat material, the total re-design of the foundations and a very large risk of settlement in the non piled areas surrounding the buildings. O’Connor Sutton Cronin therefore turned to Con-Form as they recognised that the site materials had the potential to be re-engineered using E-Found, thereby eliminating the need for piling with the additional benefit of delivering savings in both time and cost to their client.

The initial contract was for around 60 units and the works were completed within the allotted 4 weeks, with some of the units being released to the builder after just 2 weeks.

Mount Avenue Developments have subsequently awarded Con-Form two further sections on the site.
