Dublin City Council is going beyond basic legislative requirements to provide social housing tenants with the facility to live in a decent environment.
As part of its ongoing provision of social and affordable housing, the Council is building a low level complex of 24 homes in Donneycarney, Co. Dublin specifically for older persons and wheelchair users.
Constructed in compliance with the requirements of current Irish Building Regulations, each of the homes incorporates Passivent Passive Stack Ventilation (PSV) supplied by Richmond Building Products, which not only meets the Regulations, but saves energy and lifetime maintenance costs.
The scheme was designed in-house by Dublin City Council Architects Division. A spokesman commented: “PSV is an approved solution to bathroom venting under Part F 2002. An added bonus is that it uses no energy, so costs the tenants nothing, and has a low lifetime cost, which enables maximum efficient use of our funding.”
