Residents and groups from across Armagh City and District are being urged to make their voice heard on the future of the Palace Demesne.
The current space, which is home to the Council offices, is set for a multi-million pound transformation, and will be developed into Northern Ireland’s newest city centre park.
Ratepayers’ views will play a vital part in developing the plans and the Council has distributed 5,000 ‘Have Your Say’ cards across the area to encourage residents have their say on how the space will look, as well as what events and facilities will be on offer.
The deadline for feedback is the end of September 2007.
The 51-acre site is a major area of open space within the City, with huge scope for development as a public space.
Developing the Demesne as a park is one of the Council’s priorities for the next three years, when it is anticipated it will become a well-designed and maintained space, providing leisure and recreation facilities for local people and visitors.
The Council said it is particularly interested in ideas around events, public art, conserving the natural environment and suggestions for new public pathways.
