A luxury £20 million hotel is hoping to create more than 100 jobs in Belfast's city centre.
The new Fitzwilliam Hotel will be built on Great Victoria Street, next to the Grand Opera House.
The hotel will have more than 130 luxury rooms and is being planned as a five-star, which will make it the second in the city centre.
Businesswoman June Burgess owns the site and hotel, through her company Graffan Properties Ltd.
Lord Mayor Jim Rogers has welcomed the building of the new hotel, which will be a further boost to the city’s economy and Belfast’s tourism trade.
Hotel Partners, the hotel management company that runs the five-star Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin, will also manage the hotel in Belfast.
Construction on the sister hotel has begun, and it is anticipated it will be open in early 2009.
