A Shannon-based company has announced it is set to close, leaving 92 people without jobs.
The company, Mohawk Europa was formed in 1963 and was involved in producing cutting tools. It recently sustained losses over the last few months as a result of a strong Euro and higher production costs.
It is understood the company had proposed job saving measures and a survival plan, but the workforce rejected those measures. Labour Relations Commission discussions also broke down.
A spokesperson for the company said the company was left with no choice other than to close down, and a liquidator will be appointed.
