OPUS Awards 2007 Announce Two New Categories

The Bank of Ireland Opus Architecture & Construction Awards 2007 has been launched with the introduction of two new award categories this year.

Bank of Ireland have continued to lend their support and sponsorship to the awards, which were devised to reflect and reinforce the symbiotic relationship between design and construction. With the awards going to both the architect and contractor for each category, the winners will be presented during an all-industry gala dinner at The Four Seasons Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin on Tuesday 6 November 2007.

The two new categories are the 'Art in Architecture' award, which celebrates the collaboration of artists and architects to create buildings that celebrate the visual arts, and the 'Lifetime Achievement' award, which will recognise an individual who has sustained a high level of excellence over a period of time.

Roger Dunwoody, Chairman of the trustees of the Construction Industry Federation and member of the Awards Judging Panel, said: "The Opus Awards recognises excellence in design and construction by architects and contractors. The judging process presents a fantastic opportunity to see these buildings first hand with site visits, the results of which can be inspiring."
