Health and Safety Works NI (HSWNI), in partnership with the Engineering Training Council and EEF, the Manufacturers' Organisation (formerly the Engineering Employers' Federation EEF), is to run a series of safety awareness workshops for small engineering businesses to highlight the need to manage certain high risk activities in the industry.

The first workshop will take place on 30 October 2007 at the South Eastern Regional College, Bangor Campus, with another to follow on 20 February 2008 at the South West College, Dungannon Campus.

The workshops will address the insurance industry's perspective, forklift truck training and maintenance, lifting and slinging, guarding of machinery, lock out and maintenance, and general health and safety. Plant and equipment will be used in demonstrations where possible.
