International architecture and design company HKR Architects have announced they are submitting a planning application for the €600 million development of the Number One Ballsbridge project.
The international practice, which has offices in Dublin, London, Belfast, Manchester, Prague and Sarasota, has submitted the plan on behalf of developer Glenkerrin.
The proposed 40,000 square metre development will include 109 apartments, as well as office and leisure spaces. The new buildings will centre around two new plazas and two new shared pedestrian streets, and will include retail, leisure and cultural frontages and they will line the New Shelbourne Plaza, while the New Pembroke Square will be positioned centrally in the city block and will share frontages with adjacent buildings.
David King Smith, Director at HKR responsible for the project, said: “Number One Ballsbridge is an exciting and challenging project and represents a unique opportunity to develop one of Dublin’s most prominent landmark sites. During the design process careful consideration was given to the concerns previously expressed by residents in the area.
“This process has resulted in a design that will not only have minimal visual impact but will also integrate with and complement the character and design of the surrounding buildings and Ballsbridge area.”
