Minister Launches Heritage Advice Booklets

John Gormley, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, has announced the publication by his Department of the first two in a new Advice Series of booklets on the care and maintenance of older and historic buildings.

These booklets entitled 'Maintenance – a guide to the care of older buildings' and 'Windows – a guide to the repair of historic windows' are the first to be placed in the public domain and will be followed by similar publications on topics such as thatch, slate roofs, ironwork and interior finishes.

Minister Gormley said: "This particular series of superbly illustrated booklets are specially designed and crafted to guide owners and occupiers of historic buildings on how best to protect their properties and consequently our nation’s heritage."
