A new survey has revealed that the number of people working in Ireland has increased by almost 4 per cent in the second quarter of this year.
These figures, published by the Central Statistics Office’s (CSO) Quarterly National Household Survey also indicated that just over two million people were working in the Republic, which is an increase of nearly 80,000 since June 2006.
It also revealed that growth in the construction sector is moderating, with a 6.7 per cent increase in the second quarter of the year. It had been previously down by four per cent in the first quarter.
Female employment levels also increased from 58.8 per cent to 60.3 per cent and foreign nationals now account for 53 per cent of the increase in employment, with over 239,000 employed in Ireland.
