A plan to construct a Galway City park and ride facility for almost 700 cars has been rejected by An Bord Pleanála.
Galway City Council had submitted the plans to build the facility on a three hectare site, to transport commuters in and out of the city on organised buses.
However, An Bord Pleanála rejected the plans, saying it would have caused a traffic hazard and subsequently endanger public safety, as it was close to an adjacent railway crossing.
