The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Newry & Mourne District Council, welcomed Environment Minister Arlene Foster to the councils ‘Albert Basin' site and afterwards to the new Tourism Facility, ‘Bagenals Castle’.

The visit was a follow-on from a previous meeting a council delegation had held with the Minister, when they had issued an invitation to the Minister to visit the Albert Basin Site.

Council representatives took the opportunity of the visit to update the Minister on the progress being made towards the future development of the Albert Basin site and seek assurances that her department would do all that it could, to help progress the initiative through the key planning and consultation process.
