Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has announced the commencement of major road works on Sandyford Road between the junction of Wyckham Way Extension to just beyond Blackthorn Drive.
The significant road works will comprise watermains, drainage, broadband ducting, road reconstruction, cyclepaths and bus lanes.
The works will take 12 months and will commence on 26 September.
During much of these works, traffic lanes will be reduced from the present two lanes to one lane. A one-way system will be in operation, either inbound or outbound.
A diversion will be in place via Wyckham Way Extension and local access will be maintained at all times.
The Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Council said it greatly regretted the inevitable traffic delays which will occur while work is underway.
