A former favourite haunt of Dublin flat residents is to be transformed into a new development, complete with 44 new apartments, shops and a medical centre.
Developers Gerard Kelly, Stephen Loftus and John Dempsey have acquired Blackberry Fair market site.
The market had memories for locals and flat dwellers; after mass on a Sunday morning in Rathmines Church, while waiting for pubs to open, browser’s would search through the numerous items ranging from bean bags to bookshelves, and from second-hand bikes to music on vinyl and cassettes.
Blackberry Fair market was a family-run business which ran for 20 years, it recently ran into difficulty with the consumer trends of the Celtic Tiger, as more shopping centres attracted shoppers.
