Moore Concrete Cements Future With Invest NI Support

A £3 million investment supported by Invest Northern Ireland has helped Ballymena-based Moore Concrete Products Limited to more than double its export business in just 12 months.

Moore Concrete manufactures high quality pre-cast concrete products for the civil engineering, building and agricultural sectors. Products include slurry containers, manhole rings and barrier systems which include flood defences and retaining walls.

Invest NI offered over £300,000 to support the project that will help implement a new export focused sales and marketing strategy and introduce new production, planning and tracing software. A new office facility is also in the process of being constructed.

"As a result of this investment, our business in the wider UK and Republic of Ireland markets has already doubled, and we have projected a similar increase by the end of 2008," said Wilbert Moore, managing director of Moore Concrete.

"Invest NI assistance, accessed through the North Eastern Office in Ballymena, is helping us to introduce new state of the art planning software. This should deliver production efficiencies and we expect it will reduce downtime and improve scheduling in the future. This will provide production flexibility so we can fulfil increasing numbers of orders but also have time to focus on developing innovative new products and manufacturing techniques that will continues to keep Moore Concrete ahead of the competition."

The company has also secured sole rights to manufacture and distribute two innovative new products under licence in the UK and Ireland. The first agreement is with Danish firm Lundsby which specialises in concrete storage tanks. The second agreement is with US Redi Rock which designs retaining wall systems.
