Northern Ireland Environment Minister Arlene Foster has visited the award-winning Newcastle promenade to see how regeneration has transformed the town's seafront.
Earlier this year, the promenade was awarded the prestigious UK Civic Trust Northern Ireland Public Realm Award, sponsored by the Northern Ireland Arts Council, in recognition of its significant and beneficial impact on the appearance and enjoyment of Newcastle.
The Minister said the new promenade and streetscape brings a new lease of life to the town: "It fully complements the magnificent backdrop of the Mourne Mountains and creates a wonderful experience for local residents, helping to restore Newcastle's prominence as a leading seaside destination.
It is a credit to the hard work of Down District Council and the architectural profession and construction industry in this country. It demonstrates the positive impact that development can have on people's quality of life. It is an excellent example of what Northern Ireland can offer to tourists."
The Civic Trust Awards are for outstanding examples of new architecture, restoration, town planning, landscapes and public art. In addition to design excellence, they recognise projects that benefit their local communities and environments.
