Belfast based Lagan Holding Ltd has signed a £6.92 million deal to redevelop part of the runway at Bermuda International Airport.
Commissioned by Bermuda's Department of Airport Operations, the 16-week scheme at the Caribbean airport involves the milling of the existing pavement in addition to hot mix asphalt concrete resurfacing of a taxiway, apron and section of runway along with new runway markings.
Lagan will use its own asphalt plant and machinery to lay 48,700 tonnes of asphalt concrete made with aggregates from Canada and bitumen from the US.
The main resurfacing work will begin in February. Work will be carried out at night to enable the airport to remain operational.
Recent projects undertaken by Lagan include Bristol Airport taxiway and runway, Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Barking and Victoria Square, Belfast.
