The Macquarie Partnership have signed a 140 million euro contract with the Office of Public Works (OPW) to build decentralised offices in Portlaoise, Mullingar and Carlow.
The firm will be be responsible for the construction, finance and maintenance of offices which will accommodate 1,500 staff from the Departments of Agriculture, Education and Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
The 35,000 square metre buildings will comprise of office space with car parking.
Noel Ahern, Dail Minister of State with responsibility for decentralisation, said the 15-year public private partnership, is one of the largest ever undertaken by the OPW.
