Ian Wilson, Assistant Director of Environmental Services with Lisburn City Council, received the prestigious 'Councillor Gerry Douglas Award', at The NI Building Control Conference last week.
The award is presented annually for outstanding contribution to building control in the areas of leadership and innovation and is coordinated by the South Eastern Building Control Group.
Ian, the head of the Council’s Building Control Service, said he was delighted to receive the award. "It was a great surprise and a great honour to receive the award. This award is very special as it recognises my contribution to building control as determined by my peers."
He continued: "The award not only recognises my contribution but also that of all staff in the Lisburn Building Control Office. It is only with the excellence resources and support provided within Lisburn City Council that we can offer such a high quality service," he continued.
Cllr David Archer from the South Eastern Building Control Group praised Ian’s contributed: "Ian has made a significant contribution to Building Control activities across Northern Ireland for many years. He is a worthy recipient of this award and it gives me great pleasure to see this go to an officer from our Council, here in Lisburn.
"Ian has managed the Council’s Building Control Service through the achievement of quality accreditation and awards including Investors in People, Steps to Excellence and most recently Chartermark."
He concluded: "He is supported by an excellent team in Lisburn City Council’s Building Control Service and together they continue to deliver a first-class, high quality service to the ratepayers."
