A state-of-the-art business park for Newtownabbey has been given the go-ahead.
On Monday 7 at Newtownabbey Council's Planning Committtee, Invest Northern Ireland's application to create an Industrial Park on 45 acres of the land was passed.
The business park will be built at Global Point, Corr's Corner, a site which has lain vacant for over eight years.
The borough's mayor, Nigel Hamilton, said: "I am encouraged to see that Global Point is now ripe for development." He added: "It has taken an awfully long time to get there...and I would like to see progression as soon as possible."
DUP councillor Paul Girvan added: "The spin-off will not only add wealth to the local economy but will create jobs in the local area."
In 2005, former MP David Burnside branded Global Point "a white elephant of taxpayers money", he questioned why the site was not being used to its full potential.
