An area of Dublin has been sealed off today due to the threat of a three-storey building in the North Circular Road area collapsing.
Dublin City Council was alerted earlier this morning to reported 'movement' inside the old building.
It is understood the Council have treated the situation as an emergency, resulting in the building being evacuated and North Circular Road, Russell Street, Fitzgibbon Street and Gibbon Street being evacuated.
The section of road is close to the Mater Hospital and Mountjoy Prison.
The Council is awaiting the arrival of a structural engineer, who is expected to evaluate the building and decide what action should be taken.
A contractor is to be tasked with a view to razing the building, if demolition is ordered.
