The Cork docklands project can still qualify for state assistance providing some important issues are thrashed out, according to Dáil Minister for Enterprise Michéal Martin.
Mr Martin said mechanisms for the €3bn development will still need to be worked out to ensure that any aid from the government would meet EU regulations.
To agree with EU legislation hazardous substances from the site must be suitably relocated.
The minister said that it was no surprise that the project did not receive attention in the Finance Bill last week as a number of important issues still needed to be thrashed out.
