Local Fianna Fáil Senator Martin Brady has welcomed the allocation of €165,000 funding for a complete upgrade of Howth Harbour.
The funding has been allocated by Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Mr John Browne.
Deputy Brady said: "I am delighted that this funding will ensure that the harbour will be in great condition for the Regatta in 2010."
The money will go towards the dredging of the harbour, the upgrading of CCTV in the area and the installation of power points.
Mr Brady said: "This is an issue I have lobbied on for some time and I am pleased with the progress to date. I will continue to work hard for further funding for facilities in the area."
