Dublin's County Councils are negotiating deals with developers to buy homes to sell as affordable housing,
The Affordable Homes Partnership (AHP) and greater Dublin area developers are collaborating in a bid to provide discounted homes for up to 750 eligible buyers.
Approximately 1,000 properties have been offered to the partnership, in Dublin, Meath, Wicklow and Kildare, in response to an advert posted last January. The AHP is reported to be in current discussions with 20 Dublin developers - in their bid to deliver affordable homes - across 30 developments.
Katherine Banks, AHP Project Manager said: "Because of the value on offer on the market at the moment and the continued demand for affordable housing we are looking at agreeing discounted houses with developers."
Ms Banks confirmed that the AHP has a budget of €50 million to subsidise between 700 - 750 homes at €70,000 per property.
These homes are to be supplied separately from, and in addition to houses supplied by developers under their commitment to providing 20% of social and affordable housing in their residential schemes.
