In the first case of its kind, the Pensions Board told the court yesterday it wants an order to compel the construction company to pay the alleged €180,000 they failed to contribute into a pension fund on behalf of almost 200 workers.
The board claimed that although money was deducted from workers' pay between mid-June 2006 to September 2007, the company did not pay the deductions or employers contributions into the fund.

The Pensions Board brought the action after becoming concerned over the fact that a number of High Court actions had been brought against the construction company.
Concern was also raised when the company's employees were transferred to another company, receiving payslips from another company.
After an investigation the board found the firm had failed to pay contributions to the tune of €186,000. It claimed that the company didn't respond to notifications from the board that it was being brought to court.
Limestone's two directors, Colm and Martina McNulty, were required by a High Court Order in February 2008 to pay debts owed by the company to the value of €1.8 million.
The company was not represented in court yesterday.
