The Office of Public Works has now completed an evaluation of tenders received for construction of new offices for 230 staff of the Property Registration Authority (formerly known as the Land Registry).
The new building in Roscommon town is to be approximately 55,000 sq feet in size at an estimated cost of €12 million.
Fianna Fá¡l TD Michael Finneran has been a long time supporter of the decentralisation process.
He is to meet Finance Minister Brian Cowen after Easter to seek the necessary funding to allow the Roscommon Government Offices to go to the Preferred Tenderer and construction.
The local TD said: "Our decentralistion projects have proven to be a huge success in my constituency of Roscommon/South Leitrim. We have seen the creation of local employment and a significant improvement in the quality of life for many people in the area.
"It is important that we continue to build on the progress made with decentralisation. I will personally be pushing for the necessary sanction from the Department of Finance to ensure the construction work commences as soon as possible," he added.
