Meath County Council have outlined their plans for the Ratoath Outer Relief Road which will link the R155 Ratoath to Fairyhouse Road to the R125 Ratoath to Ashbourne Road.
The work, in the townlands of Jamestown and Raystown, is consistent with the objectives of the Meath County Development Plan 2007-2013.
The project will involve the creation of new roundabout junctions to the R155 and the R125 alteration of Glascairn lane to include a roundabout junction; the creation of new roundabout junction to access lands in Jamestown; the alteration of the existing junction of the R125/L1007 Kilbride Road; construction of footpaths; cycleway throughout the scheme including crossing points and the provision of public lighting along the scheme and in areas of the realigned junctions; ancillary civil engineering works and accommodation works.
Meath East TD Mary Wallace welcomed the plans. She said: "This outer relief Road will be very important to the relief of traffic congestion in Ratoath town Centre and for the economic and social development of the surrounding area.
"The construction of footpaths and cycleway throughout the scheme will also encourage walking and cycling for local residents."
Plans are available for inspection from Monday 10 March 2008 until Friday 18 April 2008 at the The Planning Office, Meath County Council, Navan, The Meath County Council Dunshaughlin Area Office or the Meath County Council Ashbourne Civic Offices Ashbourne.
