Multi-Million Cash Boost For Institute Improvements

A multi-million pound cash boost has been promised to improve the facilities at an Irish League football club's grounds.

Drumahoe-based Institute FC - who have recently received the news they will be included in the newly formed 12-team Irish League Premiership - will receive £800,000 from the Sports Council.

The funding will be used to improve spectator facilities at the Riverside Stadium.

Billy Gillard, the club's chairman, said his side will have to "work hard on the pitch" in order to attract new supporters to the grounds.

He added: "We want to build new covered and seated stands, toilet blocks - provide facilities that are up to modern standards for a family club."

Mr Gillard also said he hoped the improvements will take place within the 2008-09 season.
