Vice-Taoiseach Mary Coghlan has revealed to Deputy John Deasy that she allocated €470,000 for works at Dunmore East harbour before leaving office as Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
The funding was distributed under the Fishery Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme for 2008.
Ms Coghlan was responding to questions tabled by Mr Deasy regarding the redevelopment of the harbour. Mr Deasy requested information relating to the funding set aside for the project, when work is due to begin and when completion can be expected.
The newly appointed Tanaiste, Ms Coghlan, said due to the size of the planned investment at Dunmore East Fishery Harbour Centre, a Cost Benefit Analysis had to be commissioned for the development.
The Tanaiste said this analysis had been completed and that results were currently under consideration by officials.
Ms Coghlan would only tell Mr Deasy that she hoped to be in a position to make a decision with regards to the future development in due course.
Following this, further decisions on the project will rest with Brendan Smith, Ms Coghlan's ministerial successor.
