A Dungannon building company has been fined £400 for charges relating to pollution.
Donaghmore Construction Ltd, of Savings Street, pleaded guilty at Lisburn Magistrates to making a polluting discharge to a waterway. The company was fined £400 plus costs of £186.46.
On 15 May 2006, an Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) official observed a discharge of oil to the Derriaghy River from a building site at Lagmore, Dunmurry.
Samples confirmed that the contaminated effluent discharging to the river was a mixture of diesel fuel and a heavier mineral fuel and would have been potentially harmful to fish life in the receiving waterway.
