Fermanagh is set to benefit from a £5.5m roads investment, announced by NI Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy yesterday.
Speaking at a meeting with Fermanagh Council, the Minister welcomed a new bridge at Belcoo, built in conjunction with Cavan Council and the National Roads Authority.
Discussing planned improvements in the Fermanagh area, the Minister said: "We plan to spend £3.5million on various road maintenance projects in the Fermanagh area this year.
A major resurfacing scheme is to be carried out this year will be on the A4 Belfast Road between Tamlaght and Lisbellaw."
The Minister, again, drew attention to the increased spending power of his department and recognised the Roads Service’s success during the past year.
Roads Service's Divisional Roads Manager Pat Doherty stressed the "significant challenges" to be faced.
He highlighted the Investment Strategy, which anticipates a "large programme of trunk road improvements over the next 10 years", with investment totaling £3.1billion pounds.
The recently published plan details three new schemes of benefit to the Fermanagh area. They were A4 Enniskillen Southern Bypass, the A4 Fivemiletown Bypass and a range of carriageway improvements, including 2+1-overtaking sections, on the A32 between Enniskillen and Omagh.
The Roads Services has committed itself to reducing disruption in the area during planned works.
