Construction work on a controversial Meath incinerator plant is to begin next month, according to Indaver Ireland.
The incinerator, at Carrenstown, will be completed in around three years, at a cost of nearly €130 million.
Many locals, who have opposed the plans, are expected to continue their campaign to relocate the factory, and halt the building project.
The proposals for the plant were first brought forward by Indaver a number of years ago. Since then the project has been the focus of ongoing court actions and oral hearings.
However the firm has had great success with its plans to build the first civic waste incinerator in the country.
Indaver Ireland hopes the facility will be fully functional by the start of 2011.
The firm burns almost 200,00 tonnes of waste every year. The energy generated from this process is enough to supply almost 20,000 homes.
