Dublin-based jobs are expected to increase with reports that two companies are gearing up for significant expansions in the area.
An additional 125 Volkswagen jobs are to be created at a new Dublin showroom, office and training centre in Liffey Valley.
It is expected the development could open by the end of this year.
The company is to lease 4,330 square meters of office space at a building owned by property agent Irwin Druker.
The company has signed a 25-year lease for the building with Florence Stanley of CBRE's corporate services division sourcing the property. Savills HOK acted for Druker.
Meanwhile, Covidien, which formerly traded as Tyco Healthcare, has announced plans to cease business at 17 bases across Europe, and instead consolidate its operations to a single base in Cherrywood in south Dublin.
The US-based multinational company supplies medical equipment and is planning to recruit between 200 and 250 new staff, later this month.
Both investments were secured without the backing of the IDA.
However, IDA Ireland said it remained upbeat and positive, as Ireland continues to win significant foreign direct investment amid challenging global economic circumstances.
