Blockade action has been postponed by the Irish Road Haulage Association, again.
Association members have deferred a decision on fuel cost protests, which could be staged across Ireland, until later this year.
Last night truck divers held a meeting in Portlaoise.
They heard of the progress made during last week’s crunch talks with Department of Transport officials.
However, to allow further talks to progress, the Association decided to postpone any action until early September.
Last week Association representatives said there was a huge amount of work to be if fuel protests were to be averted.
Hauliers are angry at spiralling costs at the pumps, which they say are putting many in their industry out of business.
The Association has received a commitment from the government there will be a heavy-handed approach to illegal operators.
Government officials have also pledged to lobby in Europe for a reduction in fuel costs.
Fuel blockades have already taken place in many major cities across Europe, including London.
