How about leaving your mark on a property long after the doldrums of paying off your mortgage?

A Belfast development-led competition is offering buyers the chance to have a new housing complex named after them.

The marketing ploy has been engineered by Morris Estate Agent and building firm Smallwall.

Situated on the city's Woodstock Road, 'Development X', is offering all 18 homebuyers at the luxury scheme the chance to have their name incorporated into its eventual identity.

Morris Estate Agents has said the competition will only exempt names containing expletives and will also consider Irish names for the development, although located in a mainly Protestant area.

The lucky winner will also pocket £2,000 to furnish their new abode.

However, 'Development X' already offers what the estate agent describes as, a "competitive package with lots of extras".

Which includes front door camera entry footage that can be viewed by the homeowner on their TV, as well as vouchers to encourage buyers to purchase eco-friendly bikes.

"The developer is aware of the parking situation so hopes the new owners will buy a bike as Development X is within commuting distance of Belfast city centre," said a Morris spokeswoman.

The apartments are priced from £99,950-£137,000, which could appeal to first time buyers and professional couples.
