The reported success of Dublin Port in 2007 has been attributed to a major expansion that was undertaken to support roll-on roll-off trucks.
Last year the port experienced its best 12 month trading period ever.
This week the body confirmed that profits had risen by around 7%, bringing annual turnover to €28.5million.
The unprecedented success was aided by a €41.7m investment in port services.
The expansion of the port area included a new services station for roll-on roll-off trucks and new pilot and tugboats.
Port Chief Executive Enda Connellan said: "Dublin Port is the port of choice for Ireland’s importers and exporters."
"Over 80% of imports arriving at the port are consumer goods destined for retail outlets in the city and surrounding areas, and with over 50% of all imports through the port staying within the M50 area, the port remains the most efficient way of getting goods to consumers and to facilitate exporters," she added.
