The National Roads Authority will investigate flash floods that forced the closure of the N3 at Blanchardstown, and a part of the M50, last week.
The authority is set to liaise with Fingal County Council to find the reasons behind the flooding.
The N3 was particularly badly affected by the deluges of rainfall, which causes widespread traffic chaos.
The dual carriageway was badly waterlogged on both sides, which lent a canal look to the road.
Hugh Cregan, a senior engineer with the NRA, said: "There was a significant flooding problem and we want to find out what caused it and what needs to be done to ameliorate this situation in future."
