Road Repairs Confirmed By Clare Council

Repairs on roads adversely affected by works on the Kilnaboy Group Water Scheme will be repaired, Clare County Council has confirmed.

In a written response made by Minister of State Tony Killeen, on behalf of the local community, the council assured a resolution had been reached with the group scheme contractor and that the scheme would be completed shortly.

Minister Killeen said: "Commenting on the public roads affected by the scheme, the Ennistymon Area Engineer stated that the main Regional Road was included in the Council's annual Roads Programme, both in 2007 and 2008, at a cost of €417,000.

"A further €60,000 was included in this year's programme at Leana, Kilnaboy.

"The Local Authority has informed me that, once the Water Scheme is complete, further monies will be released by the Council's Group Scheme Section as part of the road restoration," said the Junior Agriculture Minister.

The Kilnaboy TD indicated, however, that these funds would not be sufficient to complete all the roads affected by the Scheme.

"Sections will be identified on a priority basis.

"The Council says it hopes to have the input of local groups before a final decision is made.

"Any roads not completed this year will be included in the Council’s 2009 and subsequent Annual Roads Programmes," he added.
