Phoenix Natural Gas has re-launched its 'Dial Before You Dig' charter with a new option - Click 'Dial Before You Dig' - aimed at minimising the impact of construction work on Northern Ireland's roads.
The online facility helps builders to request gas pipe location plans before they dig on any roads in the gas licence area.
Builders are advised to contact the gas company before commencing any work, as failure to do so can lead to damages causing temporary road closures, evacuations and general disruption.
As part of the continuous campaign to help eliminate these damages, all contractors will now also be able to Click 'Dial Before You Dig' by making use of an online plans request form (www.phoenixnaturalgas.com/dial).
Phoenix Engineering Director Ivan Bell said: "As part of the launch of this new service we have written yet again to contractors in our area to remind them of their responsibilities and to make clear that there is no excuse for not getting in touch in advance of planned works."
Phoenix’s 'Dial Before You Dig' charter further augments the existing 'New Roads and Streetworks Order' that exists to ensure the stringent co-ordination and quality of works undertaken by private utilities.
