A popular Kildare race track is to undergo a substantial facelift, it has been revealed.
Improvements at Newbridge Track will be grant-aided by the Irish Greyhound Board and is expected to give a new impetus to the County Kildare venue.
David Cox, owner of the stadium, said "We realised that we needed to re-launch our facility and that necessitated some considerable investment.
"We are putting in new kitchens and we have already put in the orders for them. We are also refurbishing the fast food area in the outside bar.
"We want to ensure that the trainers can get a decent meal here. In addition we are installing more plasma screens and improving the sound system which will allow us to switch between commentary on the inter-track and the on-track."
Considerable work has already been carried out on the track, with the inner rail moved to combat the trouble on the opening bend.
The re-launch is expected by the end of this year.
