€100k For Clare Community Project

A community development organisation in Ennistymon, County Clare, has been awarded funding and management development support totalling €106,100, under the Government's Community Enterprise Centre Scheme.

Project Ennistymon Ltd is to receive a capital grant of €56,100 and a management grant of €50,000.

The organisation was established in 1999 to help raise the profile of Ennistymon and improve the physical, social, cultural and economic environment of the North Clare town.

Welcoming the funding announcement, local TD and Minister of State Tony Killeen, said: "This funding allocation will assist the organisation in its ongoing efforts to meet the needs of the community and help develop the potential of the town as a centre of enterprise."

"The construction of the 9,000 square foot Enterprise Centre by Project Ennistymon has contributed greatly to establishing Ennistymon and the wider North Clare area as a place to do business.

"The funds allocated to the organisation will enable it to continue to invest time and money in marketing the town," he added.

Project Ennistymon Ltd is among 39 community enterprise centres spread throughout the country to be awarded funding and management development support by the Tánaiste, and Minister for Enterprise, Mary Coughlan.

Mr Killeen said: "The Community Enterprise Centre Scheme marks a highly successful partnership between the state and Enterprise Ireland, and the local community, at two levels.

"Firstly, it stimulates the growth of an enterprising and innovative culture of entrepreneurship, the essential seedbed for the growth of successful young businesses.

"And secondly, it provides the practical support in terms of space and facilities and a supportive environment, for new businesses to emerge and prosper at a local level," added the Clare TD.
