Business owners in Armagh have been urged to spruce up their buildings' facade for 2008.

Armagh City and District Council have offered commercial property owners and tenants grant assistance to improve their building facades, and retail frontages, across the city centre.

Grants are available for minor works including painting, signage, lighting, guttering improvements, or more major works such as new shop fronts, and complete façade refurbishments.

Grant is available at a rate of 70% of eligible project costs up to a maximum of £7,000.

'Living Over the Shop' grants are also available in a separate scheme administered by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, said a council spokesman.
