The £5m refurbishment of the Orchard Leisure Centre, in Armagh is nearing completion, the local council has revealed.

Visions Fitness Suite now has an extended gym area, boasting state of the art equipment, including a specialised Easyline circuit.

Other finishing touches currently being installed include large LCD TV's, cardio theatre, satellite TV and an air conditioning system.

Visions Relaxation Suite will include a steam room, two spa pools, a larger sauna, extensive social area and easy pool access.

The Orchard Leisure Centre has also unveiled two refurbished swimming pools, with new tiling, décor, lighting, sound system and a new spectator gallery.

Changing areas at the centre have been modernised and are now village changing areas with shower facilities and drying areas.

There are also extensive new changing areas for people with disabilities.

The reception area has been overhauled, as have the centre's cafe facilities.

"The new spacious layout and structure of this area will give a welcoming experience to all visitors enabling you to relax after your exercise, watch TV or have a cup of coffee," said a council spokesperson.

New sports specific flooring has been laid in the main sports hall, which is suitable for all major indoor games.

Dance studio space has also been extend, and has benefited from the installation of a new sound system.
