Irish Housing Minister Michael Finneran has officially opened a new €9m housing development at Boreen Bradach, Kinnegad, in Westmeath.
The 39 social houses were built by the council, with full funding from DEHLG under the Social Housing Investment Programme.
A spokesman for Westmeath County Council said: "The houses are constructed to a very high standard containing some of the most modern environmentally friendly features such as high standards of insulation, use of lime render and mortar."
The units consist of six two-bed homes, 29 three-bed houses, three four-bed and one specially adapted house.
The council has also unveiled 19 affordable housing units in the same development.
These consist of two four-bed units and 17 three-bed units.
Soon to be advertised on the open market, the cost of the homes will be subsidised by the council and the Housing Department under the Site Subsidy Scheme for Affordable Housing.
This development brings the number of houses completed this year by the Westmeath County Council to ninety three as well as over thirty units under Part V of the Local Government Planning and Development Act.
The Boreen Bradach development is centrally located in the town of Kinnegad and close to many local amenities.
The contractor for the scheme is LJM Ltd, Dunlavin, Co Wicklow and the architects are Howley Hayes Architects.
