Northern Ireland Roads Minister Conor Murphy has lauded the progress on a £5.8m investment scheme in the Armagh area.
The Minister revealed that the Armagh North and West Link Road is due to commence within the next five years, subject to the level of funding available and land vesting.
Meeting with Armagh City and District Council, Minister Murphy said: "The Armagh East Link scheme has a preferred alignment selected and junction options have been completed. It is hoped this project will be completed within the next ten years."
Mr Murphy welcomed the completion of work on the B111 Corcreevey Road, Richill.
"This scheme has significantly improved sightlines for drivers emerging from Tirnascobe Road also the scheme has included carriageway widening and improved visibility on the Corcreevey Road as well as combining a new footway link to the existing bus stop," he said.
Road Service’s Strategic Road Improvements Manager Leslie McCullough echoed the Minister's commitment to improving safety measures in the Armagh area, which include traffic calming schemes, measures to assist cyclists and pedestrians and a programme of school travel and safety projects.
