A free advice scheme has been launched in Northern Ireland to help hauliers cut fuel use and emissions.
Environment Minister Sammy Wilson, unveiling Freight Best Practice Northern Ireland, said the programme will provide free operational efficiency advice to freight operators in the form of best practice guidance and support material aimed at cutting fuel use and emissions.
Mr Wilson said: "This £120,000 investment will ensure Northern Ireland hauliers have access to the latest industry best practice, enabling them to save money for their businesses.
"The new service will offer freight transport companies free advice on a range of issues from operational efficiency to saving fuel, developing skills., equipment and systems and performance management," he added.
The free resources which will be made available to operators include guides explaining best practice; case studies showing how operators have benefited; and information and training DVDs.
Pocket guides will also be given to drivers as well as support software and interactive tools; research reports on transport and logistics developments; E-news updates; and a website resource centre.
